We’ve already seen cars like the Honda/Acura NSX and air-cool Porsche 911s go up in price, but I was wondering what cars are in a dip now, but will be worth more in the near future. I’ve included a short list, but let me know if there’s anything you think is missing.
We know the 996 Turbo appreciation is the current trend, but the Porsche 997 and 987 are too cheap right now. In Canada, you can find !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Those seem like pretty good deals. These are also the last base-Porsches with hydraulic steering, so that’s a thing.
Aside from Porsches, I see the BMW’s E82 128i and E92 M3s going up because of their naturally aspirated engines. The Bangle 1 Series is also aging well, in my opinion.
I’m also seeing NA Miatas go up in my area (albeit not by a lot). I don’t think it’s because of the new Spring season, either.
Others:
Volkswagen R32 Mk4
Volkswagen GTI Mk6
Audi TT Mk1
Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16
BMW M3 E46
Tesla Roadster
Honda S2000 (although that’s probably happened)
Lotus Elise
Fiat 124 Spider
Porsche 924S
Anything else?

The 1 Series will probably never be a collectors car since there were so many of them produced. Same goes to the Mk6.

Civic Type R EK9.

That’s fair. Maybe the 330i ZHP and E24 6 Series?

Possibly, I’d say the B5 S4 and the Passat W8 might be on that list also.

even the 1M, or whatever its called? thought these were in very short supply.

You bring up a good point about NA Miatas going up in value. I truly believe that well kept NA Miatas (namely M-Editions, BRGs, and other Limited Editions) will go up considerably in the next 3-7 years (and will only continue to rise).
On top of that, I think other non 911 porches will go up in value as well (at least the mechanically sound porches)

Probably those, but not the standard models.

right. im pretty sure none of the standard models will ever see a significant turn around in depreciation. youre right, too many produced.

They already are, but only the unmolested low mileage Si or Type Rs, which are extremely rare.

Z4M Coupes (only 1800 sold/faster than a 1 M Coupe around The Ring).
E36 M3 Ssedans in manual.
1st Gen Cayman S manuals.
Fox body Mustang notchbacks will continue to go up.

I have a 2014 Mk6 GTI Driver’s Edition. Only 3000 produced. Does come with certificates and stuff, along with a lot of special touches that no other models have. Will this be worth any money in the future, or will it at least help resale value?

Definitely the E46 M3. Impossible to find a good clean one below $20K

Alfa 4C. For some reason I see it going way up in price.

Agreed on 1M, they were deliberately underproduced to get a unique rarity, since BMW wasn’t sure people would buy into the whole “M135i” thing over an M1.

If the Corvette switches to a rear mid-engine then I can see the C7 becoming a collectors car.

Those will most definitely become collectors items.

I doubt it will change to mid engine, but another standalone model could.

Why the mk6 over the mk5 GTI? The mk5 was the return to form, no? I am biased though.
The mk5 pushed the GTI back to the forefront of the hot hatches and the mk6 built in the success but the standout was the mk5, in my opinion.
